Abstract

CPET has gained wide acceptance in CHF for evaluation and quantification of symptoms, for differential diagnosis of dyspnea, for judgement of prognosis, and as a guide to therapy. In this article technical as well as pathophysiological aspects are discussed and the clinical use of CPET in CHF is outlined. Aside from measurement of VO2 new parameters like VE/VCO2 and furnish the clinician with helpful information for diagnosis and treatment.
