Preface
Pulmonary hypertension and heart failure because of right ventricle failure have undoubtedly received less attention than they would deserve on account of their clinical impact. The diffculty in assessing the functional status of this condition and in effectively treating may explain this fact. It is a human tendency to ignore what we do not understand.
In this issue of the European Heart Journal Supplements, readers will find a thorough perspective on the functional assessment, both invasive and non-invasive, of the right ventricle and pulmonary hypertension and therapeutic possibilities. The topic is complex and so is its explanation.
I hope that the effort of reflecting on this question pays off by a growing awareness of how right ventricle and pulmonary circulation disorders may affect to some extents to a great number of patients everyday.
