Preface
High blood pressure management is the topic of the present issue of the European Heart Journal Supplements. It would appear as an unoriginal question, given the abundance of information on the importance of high blood pressure and the wide offer of therapeutic options. However, we are sure that most of those who read the contents of this issue will acknowledge its innovative approach for two reasons. First, the authors authoritatively provoke reflection rather than provide us with unoriginal information, so that the gap between what is known and what is achieved can be bridged. Secondly, they get us to move beyond the concept of hypertension as a dichotomous disease, making us aware of the continuous rise in risk parallel with blood pressure and the need to consider blood pressure in the light of other risk factors.
