Preface
Acute coronary syndromes (ACSs) still pose challenges for everyday's clinical practice. Non-ST-segment elevation ACSs have been more effectively managed since the advent of effective tools of risk stratification. In this regard, medical and invasive approaches are no longer mutually exclusive, but complementary strategies for most patients. However, many uncertainties still exist as to which medical treatment is better or the timing of revascularization.
In this issue of European Heart Journal Supplements, a panel of experts provides a contemporary and thorough review, beyond the latest European Guidelines on optimal medical treatment for ACS without ST-segment elevation. The constant development of new drugs, a changing profile of patients due to risk factor management, and advances in revascularization techniques call for an update on ACS management.
