Pacing in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Abstract

Pacing in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy has well documented beneficial effects on left ventricular outflow tract obstruction and quality of life in a majority of patients. Responders to this therapy are usually of older age and can be identified with a temporary pacing procedure. Pacing is a reversible and effective treatment option and presents little clinical risk to the patient, and should thus be considered early on in the spectrum of treatment options.
